English Country Dance Class — Come and Enjoy the Fun!

Caller: Joanne Thomson

English Country Dance is for novice and experienced dancers alike. We will dance and learn as we go – and get plenty of practice. Our caller prompts the moves once the music starts. Sessions are carefully balanced so that more vigorous dances are followed by quieter ones. There will be a tea and social break halfway through the session.

Be prepared to laugh as we are a light-hearted, happy group. No partner is needed. Low, soft-soled shoes (no runners) are required.

The cost for 12 sessions is $55.00 or $8 per week for drop-ins. Members can register online here

or through the office.

Here are two examples of English Country Dance.

The Duke of Kent’s Waltz was originally written in 1807 and then re-introduced in 1970.

Cottonwood is a newer choreography by Brooke Friendly and Chris Sackett written in 2003. They are still writing wonderful dances. The music is written by David Bartley in 2002.
