Cordova Bay 55+ Association Fire Safety Plan

IF YOU HEAR A FIRE ALARM:

  • EVACUATE via the nearest safe exit.  WALK, do not run.
  • ASSIST persons requiring assistance.
  • ASSEMBLE at the baseball backstop near the southeast corner of the centre and remain quiet.
  • LAST PERSONS OUT are to ensure all rooms are evacuated and windows and doors are closed on their way out, if safe to do so.
  • DO NOT RE-ENTER the building until advised to do so by the authorities.

IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE:

  • ACTIVATE the closest fire alarm pull station to activate the alarm.
  • PHONE 9-1-1 giving details & information asked for by the authorities.
  • FIGHT the fire with extinguishers ONLY if it is SMALL and you are NOT ALONE.  If the fire is out of control EVACUATE
  • EVACUATE via the nearest safe exit.   WALK, do not run. 
  • ASSIST persons requiring assistance. 
  • ASSEMBLE at the baseball backstop near the southeast corner of the centre and remain quiet.
  • LAST PERSONS OUT are to ensure all rooms are evacuated and windows and doors are closed on their way out, if safe to do so. 
  • DO NOT RE-ENTER the building under any circumstances.

IF YOU ARE TRAPPED IN THE BUILDING:

  • CLOSE DOORS between you and the fire.
  • PHONE 9-1-1 and provide your name and location to the authorities.
  • HANG MARKER of some form (towel, etc.) from a window to alert rescuers of your location.
