The aim is to choose challenging but not inaccessible poems.  In the past, we have read dozens of works by poets like Shakespeare, Wm. Blake, Emily Dickinson, P.K. Page, Sky Dancer, and Bill Connolly.  Many are chosen at participants’ requests.

Poems are always emailed in reading packets, in advance.  You don’t have to purchase any books.  This is not a creative writing class.  Please email the Special Interest Group leader (see above) on the Wednesday before to confirm space.

For over forty years leader Ron Marken has taught poetry, poetics, and business communication at the University of Saskatchewan.  He has published reviews, articles, chapters and books relating to poetry and the teaching of poetry.  On the other hand Ron says, “I’m 82, so I have forgotten almost everything I knew.  That makes our discussions both surprising and fun.”
