A new Discussion Group is starting on Thursday, November 4, for 6 weeks, from 9 to 10 am in the Studio, for interested members. This group is organized by the Canadian Earth Institute, and will focus on how we think grow, buy, prepare, and consume food. The group will explore food systems and their impacts on culture, society, and ecological systems, and help us gain insight into agricultural and individual practices that promote personal and ecological well-being. It will help each of us to consider our role in creating or supporting sustainable food systems. There is no instructor for the discussion group; rather each participant takes turns in facilitating the group discussion. The only cost is the manual (around $25), which provides readings each week to focus the discussion. Space is limited, so contact Brenda Hurd (658-6484) or Val Murray (658-4289) to sign up and for more information.
We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving holiday, with lots of turkey and all the trimmings! Please note that CB Place will not be open on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 11, so there will not be any classes in Stretch & Strength and Spanish, and the Men’s Group will not be meeting, either.
Have a look at what’s happening in the Courtyard! It’s starting to look pretty snazzy with the new paving stones and such!
Don’t forget to get your ticket for the November 5th luncheon and tea. For only $10/person, you will get a delicious bowl of soup and sandwich, and a sweet with you tea! Tickets are on sale at CB Place, and space is limited, so don’t delay!
Come on down to CB Place, all you interested men, to join a new social group, every Monday afternoon, starting October 4, from 2:30 to 4 pm, in the Big Room! Activities, such as table tennis, darts, chess etc. will be available as well as stimulating conversation, or just come and have a coffee. Other activities may be planned based on the interest of the group such as golf on the ridge. We are open to suggestions, and looking forward to getting out of the house, which works for our wives as well! Come and join this exclusive group!
