CRAFT SALE AND CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON

The Studio Group’s Craft Sale held on November 1st was once again a great success.  Thanks to the organizers Maura Dunn and Sheila Woloshyn and all  their hard work.  Also, thanks to the Men’s Group for help with setting up and putting away tables, and to all the volunteers who put up signs, baked, sold and generally helped to make this event possible and successful!!  The visitors and members enjoyed the delicious scones and tea, while socializing with friends and of course buying lots of crafts!!

Our Annual Christmas Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Beach House.  The doors open at 11:00 am and the buffet lunch is being served at 12:00 NOON.  Tickets are only $30 and available at the Centre.  If you are planning to come, hurry — the luncheon is almost sold out!!!

Halloween At CB55+

Halloween was celebrated at CB55+ with many people dressing up — great costumes everyone!  Target Theatre came to the Centre once again, showing 2 great presentations — enjoyed by all, as well as the great popcorn!!

Island Health (VIHA) will be at CB Place on Thursday, November 20th, 9:30 – 11:30 to run the flu shot clinic for CB Members and the general public.  Remember to register on the sign-up sheet in the Lounge, as we need to know how many people to expect.  Please bring your Card Card when you come.  FREE to all seniors!

The Blue Heron Cafe has been offering terrific lunches — they are now open every Monday for lunch.  Thanks Marilyn and your crew of volunteers!!

Registration For Courses – November/December

With all the wind and rain that we have had, you can surely tell that fall is here!  All the Fall Courses and activities are well underway — the second session of Commonwealth courses has started their registration.  Please call Saanich Commonwealth (250-475-7600) as soon as possible to register for the next set of classes.

AUGUST/SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS

Our wonderful summer is coming to an end with cooler nights and fall is fast approaching (September 22nd).  The Men’s BBQ was another “sold out” success.  “Thank you” Men’s Group — looking forward to next year.

The Corn Roast was a great way to introduce the fall activities.  Even though the corn roast was not held at the Johnston Farm, Rikki Bowman and all her many volunteers did a terrific job of serving over one hundred people at the Centre.  Thank You!!

Most of our CB groups have once again started up — check out the bulletin board, or the Blue Heron News for the weekly activity schedule.  We have several new CB55+ courses and 1-day workshops happening.  Come and learn something new!! — Ballroom Dancing, Watercolour Painting, Christmas Greenery, Beginner’s Stained Glass, Ancestry.com, Beginner’s Mah Jong, Mushroom Identification, and Teacup Reading.

The Saanich Courses have started, but it’s not too late to check them out.  To register, members must contact Saanich at 250-475-7600, or online at www.saanich.ca.  (Saanich is again offering Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Line Dancing and Zumba Gold at our Centre).

A “Meet & Greet” is to be held on Monday, September 29th at 1:30 pm, to welcome new members to our Association, and provide them with information regarding CB55+.  Any current member who would like to take the opportunity to meet and welcome these new members, and to chat with Group Leaders and the Board, are welcome to attend as well.

Strawberries & Waffles Lunch

July 2014

Our Strawberries and Waffles lunch was a sold out event.  On July 15th our members enjoyed delicious waffles topped with assorted berries and whipped cream.  Great lunch and lots of good company.  Thanks to all the many volunteers –without our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to have these great “get together’s”.

Looking forward to next year!
